Here are some of the more commonly asked questions we get regarding dental implants:
The dental implant placement procedure typically takes less than an hour for each implant. Healing generally takes between three and six months. Supplemental procedures can add time to the total healing process. For more information on supplemental treatments and who may need them, please see our page on Supplemental Procedures.
Many dental plans do not offer insurance payment for dental implants because they are considered an elective procedure. Medical insurance plans sometimes provide benefits depending on what caused the original damage to the teeth. As implants continue to gain popularity, more carriers are beginning to cover some of their cost. If you have questions about your specific plan or procedure, you should contact your insurance carrier or call our helpful staff.
The cost for dental implants depends on the individual patient’s health, the provider chosen, the type of implant selected, and how many implants are needed. The average cost of one implant can run the gamut from $3,500 to $5,000. Most patients are happy to report that the benefits of dental implants are well worth the money spent on treatment.
Once the anesthesia wears off, patients can eat soft, room temperature foods. However, patients should avoid chewing in the area where dental implants have been placed until the area is fully healed.
Before dental implant surgery can be initiated, patients must schedule a no-obligation consultation with Dr. Michael Luciani or Dr. Amanika Luciani. During this appointment, we will discuss the dental implants procedure, examine your mouth, and answer any questions you may have.
Although there is no age limit for this tooth replacement treatment, there are some patients that do better with dental implants. Please see our Dental Implant Candidacy page if you would like more details about the patients that best qualify for dental implant treatment.
Dental implants are an exciting option to replace missing or damaged teeth. If this is the option you choose, your replacement teeth will consist of small titanium fixtures permanently attached to the jawbone. The tiny roots will grow into and fuse with your jawbone, locking them into place. Once this process is complete, your doctor will attach a natural-looking replacement tooth that blends in seamlessly with your other teeth.
